Caring for the Athletes Globally
By Nicole Lowary, Big South Staff

David Dyck, Jr. D.O. and Lori Boyajian-O’Neill, D.O. FAOASM, created Global Event Medicine a year ago with the intention of combining sports medicine with family medicine ideals. “We provide basic medical first aid and athletic training, but we also provide emergency care if it’s needed,” said Boyajian-O’Neill. “Our goal is to keep the kids playing safely. It makes us feel good when we can get the kids to playing again, because the kids are what’s important,” she said.

“People are accustomed to a certain level of care and there is a need for other services that there is often no way to access.  We try to bring it up to a higher standard,” said Dyck. “We’re not a nine to five operation. We have to be available to the athletes when they need it,” added Boyajian-O’Neill.

“We’re a work in progress,” Boyajian-O’Neill remarks, “We are constantly improving and looking forward.” Global Event Medicine works with USA Cycling, USA Track and Field, USA Volleyball, and USA Triathlon. Global Event Medicine is based in Overland Park, Kansas and can be reached at 913-915-9887 or at http://www.globaleventmedicine.com
